I’m so proud of my son. This article entitled “Off to the Nationals” was commissioned by his High School!
My son has made me proud again. He has qualified for the National Competition to be held in Cape Town during the October holidays.
He came 2nd with 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Points on each apparatus:
Floor – 8.90 (3rd)
Pommel – 8.9 (3rd)
Rings – 9.95 (1st)
Vault – 9.65 (2nd)
P Bars – 9.60 (1st)
H Bar – 9.25 (2nd)
Once again, Richard has done extremely well in the Regional Competition. He has qualified for the Gauteng Provincials to be held on the 5th and 6th September in Centurion. He qualified with 7 Gold Medals, 1 for each of his 6 apparatus plus the overall position.
One of the reasons I started this venture is to help with my son’s Gymnastics career. Unfortunately, in SA, Gymnastics is not considered a professional sport but he is doing so well I can’t NOT let him continue. He is competing in Level 5 U14, and they had their first invitational competition yesterday. He came 2nd overall with 3×1sts, 1×3rd and 2×6th positions.
I recorded it, but it’s on the old fashioned video camera which still has a tape. I now have to find someone to help me put it on DVD then I can send it to family and friends far away so they can see his achievements rather than just hear me telling them.
Next week-end it’s the Gauteng Trials.
